Workshops & Book Fairs:

1. Root & Branches: Building the Family Sanctuary Homeschool Conference, May 19-21st, 2005, Tulsa ,OK. You will find information about the speakers, vendors, workshops, etc. I will be teaching on Oklahoma History. 2. Apple Tree Summer Workshops. I will be teaching an all-day workshop (9-3) called Homeschooling in the New Millennium for parents who are "just looking" into homeschooling or who are currently homeschooling but looking for some new ideas. I will show you how to get started, how to keep records, how to set your schedule and how to choose curriculum based on your child's learning style, needs and abilities. I will also demonstrate the writing of a simple curriculum plan, how to integrate hands-on learning with textbooks, and how to utilize the internet, the local library, and other available resources. 3. 20th Annual CHEF of Oklahoma Home Educators’ Conference and Book Fair is Saturday, June 25, 2005, 10 am – 6 pm, at Eastwood Baptist Church (949 S. 91st E. Ave.) Pre-registration deadline is June 11th, printable form is on the website, www.chefok.org.

Book Sales (USED):

1. DEL CITY HOMESCHOOL GROUP USED BOOK SALE. The Del City Book Sale will be held on Monday, May 23, from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Convention Center on N. Lincoln Blvd., Oklahoma City.  Specific details are available on the website:  http://www.members.cox.net/julietats  A registration form for book sellers can be downloaded from this site.  Because of the expense of the new, larger location, admission will be charged at $1 per person, $5 maximum per family.  As of 5/9, there are still NINE  spots for adult volunteers who can earn free admission by serving a 45 minute time either at the admission desk or as hall monitor.  There still are TWO  spots for teens at the admissions table (free admission as well).  To volunteer, contact Susan James at bsjjames@sbcglobal.net.

2. CHEF Used Book Fair, Friday, June 3, 2005, 6 – 8 pm, at Eastwood Baptist Church (949 S. 91st E. Ave.). Registration due May 28, 2005. Admittance fee at the door: CHEF member/family, $2 and Non-CHEF member/family, $3. Contact: Terrie Holt, coordinator, 918-357-2680 or bookfair@chefok.org.

3. PCHEA Used Book Sale on TUESDAY, MAY 17th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Church of Christ. Going East from OKC on I-40, exit at Hwy 102 SOUTH, Dale/Bethel exit. Coming West from Shawnee on I-40, same exit. Go South on Bethel Rd. approx 2.5miles and the church will be on the left or East side of the road. Tables are available for $3 if anyone would like to sell their books. Please contact Patsy on her pager @ 539-4285 for more info.

5. EDMOND USED BOOK AND CURRICULUM SALE. Thursday, May 19, 2005, 1:00 p.m. -  3:00 p.m., Cathedral of the Hills (Gym), 1600 S.E. 15th Street, Edmond. Admission is free for those not selling. Contact: Rhonda Flint at 341-7849. 
 

Used Curriculum (Stores):

1. Texoma Book Co-op in Marietta Oklahoma. Free textbooks. No charge - no strings - no kidding. Folks just have to come get them. We don't ship them. We have books donated by teachers, schools, homeschoolers. We currently have 3rd-12th grades covered in most subjects. There are 2-300 more coming in in the next 2 weeks. Some are complete sets with teachers books - but most are student texts only - some with workbooks. We have an overabundance of Math, Algebra and geometry for 6 - 12th  grades. Oh - and LOTS of literature. Also Saxon maths and algebra1/2. We also have some Abeka, and other more standard homeschool books. The 'also haves' are too many to list! If folks have books they don't need anymore they can bring them to be distributed. Thats how we get a lot of them. Contact: Vivian Alsup, The peddlers Junction, 104 N. 2. Bibliomania on the northeast corner of 129th E. Ave. and 21st street, Tulsa. Sue sells used homeschool curriculum. Check back often because you never know what she'll get in. Tell Sue that I sent you.

Just For Fun:

1. Home School Family Day 2005 at Frontier City is Friday, May 20, 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Open privately for homeschool families only. Cost is $14 per person plus $1.17 for tax, parking included. Mail order requests should be postmarked by MAY 9th.  Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for them to mail your tickets back! Make checks payable to Frontier City and mail with full payment to Attn: Home School Days, 11501 N.E. Expressway, Oklahoma City, OK 73131. Or, you can buy tickets on line and  print out your tickets at home (up until the day before the event). To order Frontier City Tickets for the homeschool day, Friday May 20th.

  • 2. Next go to pick a park (find Frontier City in OK city)
  • 3. Next screen - in the top right corner will be a place to put a code, put in: home.
  • 4. The next screen you will see a homeschool day box where you put in how many tickets you want and add it to your cart.
  • 5. Then you input all your information
  • 6. Last, print out your tickets.
