WORLD
HISTORY - ANCIENT CIVILIZATIONS
The
following resources make an excellent core curriculum for
the study of Egypt, Rome, and Greece. Add some activities
and composition projects and you have a complete one year
unit.
ANCIENT
EGYPT
For
Egypt activities, use History Pockets: Ancient Egypt.
Kids learn about the daily life, government, religion,
architecture, language, arts and recreation of Egypt by
coloring, cutting, and pasting to create a pocket notebook.
It includes maps, a time line, arts and crafts, and historical
information. It's geared for grades 4-6 but could be used
for all primary-age children with assistance from mom
or siblings. Great for the
Visual Learner and all kids
who like to cut, paste, and color.
ANCIENT
CHINA:
Ancient
China, To the Great Wall and Beyond by
Judy Wilcox.
ANCIENT
GREECE
Ancient
Greece by Christine Hatt.
For
Greece activities, use History
Pockets: Ancient Greece.
Great for the Visual
Learner and all kids who like to cut, paste, and
color. ISBN 1557999031.
ANCIENT
ROME:
Ancient
Rome (Discovery Series) by
Dr. Paul Roberts. Covers every aspect of Roman life
and history; however there is very little information
on Christians during this period. I recommend it because
of the colorful illustrations, excellent historical
information, and it's easy to obtain. This, along with The
Story of the World and Rome History Pockets
make a great unit study for primary age children.
Ancient
Rome History
Pockets. Fun for K-4th.
